Preparation steps:

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
2. In a bowl, soak 200g of mixed dried fruits (raisins, currants, chopped apricots) in 100ml of orange juice for 30 minutes.
3. In another bowl, sift together 250g of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg.
4. Cream 200g of unsalted butter and 150g of brown sugar until light and fluffy.
5. Beat in 3 large eggs, one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated.
6. Stir in the soaked fruits and 50g of chopped nuts (walnuts or almonds).
7. Gently fold in the flour mixture until just combined.
8. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
9. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
10. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
