Preparation steps:

1. Rinse 200g of chana dal (split chickpeas) and soak for 30 minutes.
2. Drain and boil in water with turmeric until tender, about 20-30 minutes.
3. Heat 2 tablespoons of ghee in a pan.
4. Add 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds, a cinnamon stick, and 2 bay leaves. Saute until aromatic.
5. Stir in 1 tablespoon of grated ginger and 2 minced green chilies. Cook briefly.
6. Mix in the boiled chana dal, salt, and a pinch of turmeric. Simmer for 10 minutes.
7. Incorporate 2 tablespoons of grated coconut and a handful of raisins.
8. Finish with a sprinkle of garam masala before serving.
