Preparation steps:

1. Soak 50 grams of tamarind in 1 cup warm water for 15 minutes; extract juice.
2. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a pan over medium heat.
3. Add 1 teaspoon mustard seeds, let them splutter.
4. Stir in 2 chopped onions; saute until golden.
5. Add 2 chopped tomatoes, cook until soft.
6. Mix in 1 teaspoon turmeric, 2 teaspoons red chili powder, and 1 tablespoon coriander powder.
7. Pour tamarind juice, bring to a boil.
8. Gently add 500 grams fish pieces, reduce heat.
9. Simmer for 15 minutes; fish should be tender.
10. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves, serve hot with steamed rice.
