Preparation steps:

1. Rinse 200g lentils until water runs clear.
2. In a pan, heat 2 tbsp oil.
3. Add 1 tsp cumin seeds, let them splutter.
4. Add 1 chopped onion, saute until golden.
5. Stir in 2 minced garlic cloves, 1-inch ginger.
6. Add 2 chopped tomatoes, cook till soft.
7. Mix in 1 tsp turmeric, 1 tsp coriander, ½ tsp chili powder.
8. Stir in lentils, 600ml water.
9. Simmer until lentils are tender, about 25 minutes.
10. Season with salt and garnish with fresh coriander.
