Preparation steps:

1. Rinse 200g of lentils thoroughly and cook in 3 cups of water until soft.
2. Blend 1 cup of grated coconut, 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, and 1 green chili into a smooth paste with a little water.
3. Combine cooked lentils and coconut paste; simmer gently.
4. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan.
5. Add 1 teaspoon mustard seeds, let them splutter.
6. Stir in 1 dried red chili and 10 curry leaves.
7. Pour tempering over the lentil mixture.
8. Season with salt to taste and a pinch of turmeric.
9. Serve hot with steamed rice.
